About Evans Golf Company
Golf means different things to different people, but some things are constant to all. Friendships formed. The joy of sport. History and tradition. Honor and integrity.
It’s a game that gave more to us than we to it.
Evans Golf Company was created to give back to the game of golf. We make golf bags and accessories that remind us of those that we used when we first began to play the game. They remind us of the simple joys from a time when it was simply about having fun learning to play. In creating these products, we hope that younger golfers will find the same joy in golf that still inspires us, and we hope that our contemporaries remember the joy that first touched them. This is the feeling that we hope to give back to the game of golf.
Beyond the nostalgia, we give back to the game through each and every item we sell. A portion of all Evans Golf proceeds is donated to our favorite golf charities.
We were inspired by a legendary golfer that got a lot from golf, and then gave much more back.
Chick Evans was an amateur golfer in the early 1900s. In 1916, he rose to fame by becoming the first golfer to win the Western Amateur, Western Open, U.S. Amateur, and U.S. Open – sort of like an American “Grand Slam” at that time. In keeping with his amateur-gentleman’s creed, instead of accepting prize money or promotional royalties, Evans established a scholarship fund for caddies in 1930. Today, the Evans Scholars Foundation has helped more than 11,000 caddies with full tuition and housing for college.
Pretty cool story.
For us, the story also felt close to home. Chick Evans always played well at The Minikahda Club – the site of his 1916 U.S. Open victory as well as the site of his runner up finish to Bobby Jones in the 1927 U.S. Amateur. Evans Golf Company was founded by a group of friends who play their golf at The Minikahda Club and who share a passion for golf, for its history, and for its spirit of honor and opportunity.
